Palm Mortuary sits in the heart of Las Vegas in an area plagued by a poverty stricken neighborhood on Main Street. The mortuary has quite a history which is further below.

With its lush gardens and various mausoleums Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas is one of the more larger cemeteries in the area with alot of class. Most of the stones are marble. Almost every stone has a flower arrangement and there are a few statues including the giant Masonic stone book which we photographed and I did an audio for our members at that location.

Its a place full of walkways, small hills, and even fountains. It is funny how you can leave the cemetery and find disgrace but once you are in this place its beautiful like a land that does not belong. Its a very sad situation but hundreds of homeless sleep outside the cemetery right along the walls on the outside. There is no beauty in that its rather sad believe me I been there I know.

About Palm Mortuary

Palm Mortuary, NV - 1950

What began as a small funeral home in 1926 has become Southern Nevada's largest and most trusted funeral services company. We at Palm Mortuary are proud of the company's longevity and the countless number of families served during their times of greatest need. The following is a brief history of Palm Mortuary, its owners, employees and a number of our milestones.

In 1926, Gene and Anna Parks opened Palm Mortuary at First Street and Carson Avenue. The location is near where the Golden Nugget now stands.

In 1946, Jerry Woodbury and Don DeVoe purchased the mortuary from the Parks family. In 1957, Palm Mortuary's headquarters was opened at 1325 North Main Street, the same site as its current main location.

In 1958, Palm built Southern Nevada's first mausoleum, The Building of Eternity. One year later, Charles Knauss became the major stockholder. Planning for the future growth within Southern Nevada continued, and in 1963, Palm purchased 20 acres in Henderson for a combination mortuary and cemetery, which opened in 1964.

In 1967, H. E. Burton joined Palm and established the advance planning program.

Continued growth in the Valley led to the opening of Palm Green Valley Memorial Park in 1972. A new mortuary was unveiled on the property in February 1979. Palm's Boulder City Mausoleum was opened in 1983 on 12 acres. In 1986, Flowers by Palm was renamed Flower Fair and a new freestanding florist location was added at Oakey and South Jones Boulevard. In 1987, Palm opened their mortuary at South Jones Boulevard.

In response to the growth in the Northwest part of the Valley, Palm Cheyenne Mortuary opened its doors in March 1994.

In July 1998, Palm Memorial Park - Northwest opened on 40 acres at Jones Boulevard and Deer Springs Road; the mortuary opened its doors in 2005.
