The journey to Hot Springs Valley would take us through Pony Express Territory which is a mix of high desert and alpine national forest. This road is your gateway into the heart of the high sierras its also an area our paranormal team has worked heavily with in 2011 and will continue to do so for the next few years. Our first exploration of the new year has began and what a beautiful winter day it is to partake on a little Bigfoot adventuring.

This truly is the heart to Bigfoot Country as many national forests border one another. With all the cliffs, rock formations and lush forests this is a creature that could be anywhere. Our road trip would eventually take us into Alpine Country known for being 96 percent uninhabited making it a natural wonder for a creature like Sasquatch to be able to exist. Sit on back enjoy the ride we live and breath this pristine region of the country known as the Sierra Nevada's.

Markleeville is an historic little town nestled in the Toiyabe National Forest. The town is surrounded by volcanoes, creeks and alpine forest. The road we are on has taken us through the town and out to a lush valley known for its hot springs. Many nights I have traveled this road in search of Bigfoot and in 2011 we have hiked extensively in this region.

Hot springs Valley was once home to the Washoe people and many early pioneers. Today its an area known for its springs where many even in the winter enjoy bathing in. The valley is surrounded by three very prestigious mountain peaks two of them being Hawkins and Markleeville Peaks. At one time these mountains were active volcanoes which helped shape the land just as glaciers helped carve out the canyon which resides beyond this valley where we would focus our exploration at.

Grover Springs is easily accessible call it a very well known tourist attraction. However it does have many centuries of history all the way from native American culture to earlier homesteaders. We have just arrived and are prepping for our hike deep in the canyon. As I hike along this road its very obvious that the plumes of steam rising up from the ground are caused by the heating of underwater springs being heated by hot magma rock deep below.

I was amazed to have found so many people swimming in the hot springs in the middle of winter. The water can reach temps of about 148 degrees Fahrenheit. At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me thought I seen a white yeti looking back at us on the hill however it turns out it was just Tammy lol.

The Charles Scossa Cabin served as a seasonal retreat just within a few feet of the springs. At one time prior to this cabin being built here it was the site of the Hawkins Ranch which utilized the entire valley for its resources. This cabin is about the only remaining historic structure remaining as it greets adventurers entering its lush canyon.

The first test of our hike would take place along the Saw Mill Creek trail. Although there are many trails and creeks within the canyon this was a great place to start. The trail was very narrow parts of it overgrown and the creek seemed to provide the local wildlife with a source of fresh water.

This is a great video that shows a bit more of the creek that follows the trail we are on. The trail appears to be covered by ice at certain locations making it a very slippery journey at times. You can almost feel in the video as if we are watched the forest is rather heavy at times certain parts of it the trees are dying. It would not take to long to find our first set of tracks on our expedition here.

Two tracks were found along Sawmill Creek both fairly deep both with toe impressions. I had to cut the camera short as we had a couple hiking towards us and the trail is extremely narrow. In our next video I will go into the tracks much further in detail. I feel that the Bigfoot possibly follow the creek and this narrow trail down searching for food. Within about 100' of these tracks the canyon becomes very difficult to navigate as you will found out further in this series. These are our first Bigfoot tracks of 2012 a nice way to start off the new year!

A closer look at the deepest track reveals wide toe impressions with about a depth of nearly 2". The track may be an adolescent Sasquatch considering that it is only about 7 inches wide by 11.5 inches in length. The two most notable features of the track is that it is barefoot based on the toe impressions and that it is considerably wide. Later during the expedition we would find a much larger print so we have to theorize that their may be more then one in this canyon. The hikers that passed by me asked me if that was a Bigfoot track prior to us taking measurements of it.

This is a short clip interviewing Tammy about the track. She even states that whatever made it had to be a considerable heavy weight. Also notice why I called this on thin ice as the trail has many patches of it which are quite slippery considering the fact that during the day it thaws and can pose a bit of danger. Trust me I learned the hard way no pain no gain!

These large granite rock formations reveal dens and grotto's. Granite rock formations such as these are abundant the deeper you traverse into the canyon. During the last ice age glaciers carved out these canyons dragging millions of tons of rock and debris. When they thawed what was left behind was scarring and rocks sometimes bigger then houses. We would have to find a means to climb many of the rocks as our elevation would increase within the canyon.

Within the rocks its important to search for what I call bedding a place where a creature like Bigfoot may hide or seek shelter at. I cannot say this is actual bedding but its a good start as to where to look. In Ohio these creatures make their bedding out of grass while in the sierras more then likely pine needles.

The deeper into this canyon you traverse the more confusing the trails get. Many of the paths dead end at rocks or various creek beds while others cross less taken paths. Its very easy to get turned around once you realize that the granite rocks tower above you and the trails are overgrown.

The rocks along the creeks impede further passage thus the only way to go is up and around them. I found during our expedition that all to often we encountered downed trees or rocks that are bigger then pickup trucks. More then often we had to create our own paths in the woods much like a Sasquatch would.

I ended up climbing a small cliff to get a better look from above in this clip. That way I could see where it was we needed to go and if their was another feasible trail. Sometimes the most difficult paths turn out to be the most rewarding ones.

The real adventure would began when we literally had to climb down the steep side of the hot springs canyon walls. The ice, loose pine needles and dirt made it quite challenging. We had to grab anything and everything to prevent ourselves from rolling down into the creek below. We had crossed the creek which had a thin layer of ice. As I crossed it all I could hear was it cracking ready to give way. One wrong fall may have met going over a small waterfall and being drenched into the freezing waters.

This key location is nearly the epicenter of Hot Springs Canyon. The rock you literally see in this video is the size of a house. The rock resides on a hillside nearly dead center within the canyon. Surrounding this area is a creek on both sides and beyond it is a series of rock formations. Beyond this formation is an inhospitable environment with no trails just rocks, trees and cliffs. It would be very easy for something to make its way up into the canyon and right over its 10,000' peaks deep into the high sierras.

These massive tracks were found up on a hill side overlooking the entire canyon below us. There were two tracks a left foot and a possible right one. The left track however is more predominate as if something put more of its weight down exerting itself uphill. The tracks are fairly deep all the dirt was compressed then displaced surrounding it. Whatevermade it was large and weighted down. In regards to the track the ground was fairly frozen and there was in the left foot print some bobcat stool. Cats generally defecate around certain scents or odors as a way to dominant their territory. Its obvious that it may have done this out of fear of whatever made this track. I did take measurements but I would return an hour later to film these tracks in HD quality .

The expedition eventually turned into a search and rescue. By this time we should have found Tammy however she was on an entirely different path and we were just on the other side. The foliage is very thick in the canyon not to mention the fact that anything could hide amongst the rocks so their was a slight risk factor here. Jarrod and I would began to descend to the lower canyon floor heading back from where we came from. We found out that it was not an easy task as the granite rocks made it more difficult to traverse.

Alas we have found the main creek that meanders throughout the canyon floor. In this video you will see a frozen waterfall and some pretty steep granite rock formations. It was not an easy task to reach the lower canyon floor I twisted my ankle twice and fell once. Some of the drop offs are 15' so we would carefully have to carve our own path to reach more stable level ground.

We are now nearing more level ground heading easy which technically would take us out to Hot Springs Valley. However since the canyon is nearly a mile wide Tammy could be hiking on a parallel trail and we would never even know it. The hike heading easy is full of woods and areas where possible Bigfoot tracks could be found. I noticed that most of the evidence we collected was in areas that humans are least likely to travel on.

While magically hiking we managed to find Tammy hanging out near Sawmill Creek. This video may not be all that ethical to share but the reality is that the team is responsible for always staying together otherwise it puts not only our expeditions at risk but others as well. I was not very happy at the moment with Tammy as she tries to explain to me she was at the frozen waterfall the same one we filmed previously only to find out that she decided to drop out of the expedition. My motto is you snooze you lose if we didn't lose Tammy we wouldn't have found the large tracks on a hill at the same time Tammy will only get to see them via youtube lol.

After locating Tammy I had two challenges remaining. The first challenge was that we were facing darkness. This meant that if I were to make it back to the area where we found large tracks we would be surrounded by nightfall. There was not much time remaining the moon was rising. The second challenge would be relocating the tracks. We would have to back track for nearly a mile climbing the canyons granite rocks.

We would climb up along a frozen creek and waterfall.Eventually we cross the ice is extremely slippery and there is very little footing. During the winter many of the granite rocks are exposed due to less water flow enabling us to reach this off the beat location. Nestled in a little alcove of granite rocks we found this hidden pond where slowly a waterfall pours through a rocky hole from where the creek runs. I consider this a bit of a hidden jewel we would break here then continue on with the finale of the expedition.

We have managed to relocate the enormous tracks found up the overlooks earlier. Although nightfall is setting in I am able to get some HD quality footage of the tracks prior to sunset. The canyon is very narrow and much like an overgrown jungle thus darkness sets in much earlier here. The tracks accurately measured turn out to be about 8 inches wide by about 15 inches in length. The best footage of both tracks from an Arial perspective is at 2:13 to 2:15 mins.

Just a short few female Bigfoot calls although it did not generate a response at first it would pay off towards the end of our investigation. If something was at the time in this canyon it would now know that it wasn't alone. We try a little tree knocking and sometimes a few calls to generate Sasquatch activity. We been doing this for many years and sometimes you win sometimes you don't.

The further we traversed into the canyon the more areas we found where a beast could hide. Not necessarily Bigfoot but other creatures predominant to this forest. This den had no signs of Bigfoot but I could envision a mountain lion resting within his perch looking at passer by below.

Nightfall has set on in the moon is illuminating the dark treetops. However, we would have to make it back prior to the gates being closed. We had no set trails to make it back down to the lower canyon floor. Between the foliage, granite rocks, frozen creeks and freezing temperatures we would need to start heading back. I would let out another couple of calls I would hear deep over the canyons mountain a very faint reply. There are monsters in the woods!

I found a large fresh pile of stool that was a bit strange although horses traverse the trails within the canyon we can only speculate. The stool had no grass in it and looked like something maybe drank some bad water up here. Thus we documented this in the dark of night just for our viewers.

This is a special night-vision clip in the dead of Hot Springs Canyon. Jarrod and I are heading east through the canyon. There are no paths and the foliage is so thick that at times its as high as I am. Finding the trail would be like a needle in a hay stack since the granite rocks and creeks create a bit of confusion. When I turned off the camera Jarrod as white as a ghost said that he seen something large and hairy cross the trail behind us. I only heard the brush move I didn't see it and alas the journey began for home. This would complete our first expedition into the Hot Springs Canyon area. Welcome to the Jungle baby!
