The Heart's Content area began around the 1800's when a 20 acre parcel of land was protecting from logging by the Wheeler and Dusenbury Lumber Company. This parcel of original forest was known as the Old Growth Forest or Virgin Timber and was donated to the Forest Service in 1922.

In 1934 the Old Growth and 102 acres of land surrounding it was designated as a "Scenic Area" by the chief of Forest Service. The civilian Conservation Corps built pavilions and a campground in 1936. So the area here is quite old and established what is known as part of the Allegheny National Forest.

The old growth forest was made of of white pines, American Beech, witch hazel, and Eastern Hemlock. Some of those are 300- 400 years of age. However many trees in the area are newer considering the area has not been logged in decades the forest is starting to come back here. White pine was a huge industry with over 100 saw mills in Warren and surrounding areas. I noticed from the trailhead board there was alot of history showing photos of what appeared to be a ghost town at one time in the Hearts Content area. There was houses, a mill, and other structures.

Along the trails here you will see various historical sites one of them is a memorial dedicated to the Wilkins Farmstead. I do not have much history on it but I can imagine what it was like to have a farm up in this area considering its seclusion. Then on another trail you can see the remains of old railroad grades used in early logging. Lastly their is an area called Minister Creek where an old boiler sits right in the middle of the creek area. I wish I got to investigate this area more but I could not get Dr Vig to hike with me here at night or explore the area so I really did not get to visit the various sites here.

As far as the old boiler goes it dates back to the earlier 1900's and it was used to create steam for an engine. It was used as a stationary boiler to power an oil rig. This does not surprise me oil wells are all over the area.  The area it sits is not far from old railroad grades and is along a really scenic area lots of rocks and nature.

Then there is another area up here where a gravestone is in the middle of the woods. We did not visit it but that is all it is one gravestone a few hundred feet from the road. I just find it odd is all but back in the day people were buried just about anywhere they did not always have cemeteries up in the mountains.

The whole reason for my visit to the area was the fact that people at night hear screams up here besides the fact of hearing tales of vortexes. A few people wrote me and told me that the area has alot of strange activity over the last few years.  Its a big area one trail is 11 miles but then you have another one that will take you right on into the Chapman Dam area. My purpose of investigating the area is to expose what is going on here. It was not to find paranormal evidence really if I did I did but I was not given the chance to hike as long as I wanted too.

Back on February 14th Valentines Day the area was blocked off by the US Government. I guess their were vehicles and something was hauled out of the area a possible crashed UFO. The cops and others who took the case were sworn to secrecy and now everybody is saying it was just Methlab who was on sight. Unfortunately if it was why aren't the local law enforcement agencies bragging back where I am from if a Methlab bust happened it was on the news.  People would brag say hey we got these people like most Methlab bust. But even more so I will not say who I was told that those who were on the scene were told to say it was a Meth lab and that they would not disclose it but did say it was something else.

The problem is that from what I know the people admitted that they were threatened to keep quiet about what really happened up on the hill behind some houses. There is only a few houses up near Heart's Content along the woodsy road leading to the recreational area. Its hard to say what was found rumor has it a UFO crash my speculation maybe a Sasquatch body may have been discovered. Nobody will talk about it you ask the locals they either avoid it or say to others sorry I cannot say anything about what really went on.

Why even block off the road due to a Methlab? Asking vehicles to turn around when this happened deeper back in the woods? So basically the hike up here and investigation was not for nothing. By putting up the area on our site it gives it exposure and maybe someone will come forth and tell me what really happened or is happening here. I mean from the photos below you can see that this is a really woods and extensive areas. One dirt road we hiked on they had little trails leading to GIANT open well kept patches of land with no trees.

Also there is another area I hiked a couple miles at here that has a lake I will share a photo below. Under the lake is a tunnel we did not find it but it exist and if I was given more time here again I probably would have found it and explored where it went. That tunnel goes right under the lake and where it goes its hard to say kind of eerie if you ask me. Dr Vig told me of some strange tracks found up by hidden lake I can understand why its so secluded not even a house for miles.

So all in all its a strange area almost a world of its own. Lots of woods, rock formations, scenic areas, and history. I do think something is going on here even though its heavily visited by tourist anything can hide back here. I would love to talk to some of those people who camp up here or loggers. I am sure they got some stories to tell. Do you dare to tell yours?
