I made a special section for the mining district because during our hike we encountered so many mines but this district was more like a camp just outside of the main semi ghost town of Goodsprings. At one time they had a railroad that led back into town where minerals could be processed at the mill then exported. The entire mining district in my opinion is A. Creepy B. Full Of Paranormal Activity C. Mines & Foundations. Along the hike about 5 miles beyond the town is a series of dirt roads some lead to mines while others are just vast wildnerness and canyons. More interesting then so is the fact that I spent a good amount of time noticing a very notable landmark known as Mt. Potosi the same mountain where a TWA flight carrying Carole Lombard had crashed killing this celebrity. The mining district still shows signs that at one time stone cabins were built in the canyon and the old train tracks had been removed but the path where it ran still remains. Most of the mines are fairly small but one mine is sealed with iron perhaps this was the keystone mine which caused the town of Goodsprings at one time to boom drastically. Often adventurers will take their gear out here and camp. I seen it done as I watched from a ridge two sets of cars slowly taking the old mining road. Many types of minerals were mined here gold, silver, zinc, lead, ore, cobolt, platinum and copper. The minerals were so rich here that the population in 1915 was higher then Las Vegas reacing over a 1000 residents to this area. The mining district is in a scenic location surrounded by many mountains of course being shadowed by Mt. Petosi which is a very ancient site and place of various lead mines that sparked Vegas growth. You would expect the mines in this district to be older then what it seems but many of them were mined in the earlier 1900s unlike the much older Yellow Pine Mining District which sits fairly close to the town of Goodsprings. Here is what I can tell you about this mining district based on my experiences and what I seen. Their is a few shafts in the area that are holes leading to places our team could not get to. However for the most part we covered many mines and tunnels within the canyon. Across the valley you could see possibly another mine off in the distance. Their is so much to see and explore here. As far as paranormal experiences here the activity is heightened not sure as to why just yet. I am almost bold enough to say that I had what I believe might be some alien activity within this location. There is something that seems to follow you around often it looks like a dark shadow others reported seeing something that looks like an angel or alien like being. One both investigations individuals who volunteered for us described this. Their is an odd mist that moves fast within the district....female screams are heard probably ghostly.....black shadows move around often....and there are strange balls of lights that travel sometimes certain patterns like UFOs perhaps smaller ones. I believe I was lucky enough to capture one during my visit to the burnt down Yellow Pine Mill which radiated various colors of light. Speaking of UFOs at one point I was paralyzed in the Copper Mine almost which runs under the same hill Karrie scene this being standing on in investigation 1 of the area. I can only speculate all of these occurrences to be paranormal phenomena of some kind. I cannot say they are ghostly, alien or demonic I can just tell you based on collaborations from team members and myself. Please refer to our Goodsprings history read up to understand the connection of the district to the town. The district is so secluded that Goodsprings is not visible from here at night. The area was Anasazi and pauite territory as at one time springs graced this location like an oasis. But lets not forget that the Anasazi did mysteriously vanish and every place I visit where they once thrived at just gets stranger. One thing I can tell the public is that you always feel watched......and its so spooky that even the cops refuse to come back in here even with 4 wheel drive and SUV's thus getting stuck here, stranded or even hurt might be a good enough reason to stay very far away from this place. There is no luxury back in these hills its dark and a very historic location. My first visit to the area was an evening tour we got stranded with a flat and stuck so I never seen much of the mine district till my second adventure. But from my first trip to the area I felt it the second time here I seen it! The locals call this place Gods Country untouched by man except for its mines the world in this valley and its canyons is more then just scenic. It holds many secrets much like most mining districts in NV for example El Dorado canyon the place where serial killings took place all over the greed of man. I am sure athough records do not indicate that some wrongdoings took place in this district there are no doubt ghost of the past. His name is Rich he is an avid hiker in the southern NV area and an airline pilot. I had many problems at the time with a woman named Brenna whom I dated therefore I could not make a third trip here at that time or did not pursue one. Ever since visiting this place she seemed to become very hollow not sure out of fear or if something evil got inside of her. I watched her mental health deteriorate including a few weeks later her talking demonic in nature. I did not get to go with Rich as he went alone took a friends truck out here perhaps curiosity or maybe defiance towards whatever it was that taunted him. I have hidden his email address for protection and respect. You will see in his letter comparisons of what occurred with us and his visit later to the area. I would post it in the Godsland Copper Mine but you see the issue is not just with a single mine....its the canyon the mine resides in. (well now yesterday) I called a friend who is a minister
and is also into the paranormal to see him take on
it. He was quiet while I talked of the first
trip. When I started talking about playful spirit
and what it was doing he asked if that was the only
entity that we came into contact with or if there was
another that was more powerful. I told him what we
had both said while provoking and he got a little
concerned. When I told him what happened to you,
Brenna, me getting shoved, what I saw above us on the
mountain and the chase that ensued, he got extremely
agitated and sounded like he was flipping thru a books
looking for something. While he was looking
for whatever it was I told him about my experiences the
prior night. Once I was done he asked if I was nuts
going alone. I agreed that it was to say the least
foolish and I did it partly because there was a slight
hint of doubt that what we encountered was real and not
just a bad dream. He finally found what he was
looking for and gave a simple explanation that it could
have been a shadow person and a ghost that we saw.
But based on what I saw and felt the second time that he
would be leaning more towards something that he has only
read about in the bible(I wish I had paid attention to
where) of the description of the devil using lesser
spirit to coax the unwary people into a trap where he can
overpower the person. He also said that if
what he thinks is true that we’re all extremely luck
to have gotten out relatively safe and unharmed. I’m
not sure whether it was a pissed off shadow person we
provoked or something far worse, but one thing is for
suck it certainly seemed to remember me and was not happy
that we got away the first time much less a second.
I wish I had brought my video camera with me to catch
that thing.
