The Forestdale Divide is as historically significant as it is a scenic wonder. Every time I thought I seen everything the sierras has to offer I find a new gem to explore. Although this mountain range has Bigfoot Lore, UFO sightings and even tales of strange creatures the divide seems to be surrounded by these sort of phenomena. This is why we chose to open up a new case file in this region as the divide is surrounded by many other locations we have done expeditions at such as Hope Valley, Blue Lakes, Mount Raymond and The Devils Ladder! So one would think being that it is surrounded by places with such great paranormal activity that the divide also might possess some strangeness then again if it does it definitely gets a ten out of ten for natural beauty.

The divide seems to be a valley which eventually journeys into a narrow canyon once crossed it takes you into the back way into upper Blue Lake. Prior to crossing over the divide which is at an elevation of over 8k the road follows Forestdale Creek which found at its end are small clear pools of water. Sadly we made a mistake thinking at first we found Hell Hole Lake when in fact these pools are caused by the melting of winter ice that descends off the mountains. Surrounding the divide are quite a few deceased volcano's which rise up over this narrow canyon thus the six mile journey is one not to be taken lightly and requires a very good four wheel drive vehicle! I say this because over the years we get so many viewers who want to see some of the places we visit so if you want to dip your feet in the pools or hike in the canyon you really need to know what your up against.

The Elephants Back overlooks the divide topping off at over 9,080' and this massive mountain is called that due to it is physiologically shaped! The divide was named after the creek which drains into the pools but also at the fact of its low saddle in the Sierra Crest Line. Also time and time again so does the well known Pacific Crest Trail follows the divide leading to some of the scenic wonders we have already visited including through Yosemite California! Those that are not aware the PCT starts at Mexico works its way through California all the way up into Canada. I am not ever sure in my life I will get to see every site that surrounds this trail which passes through six eco zones. The PCT does continue to meander below and above the divide as we did adventure on it to get to some of the areas you can only reach via foot!

Although the divide is not as well known as some of the other wonders in the sierras it does date back to its first white settlers in the 1800's during a silver mining boom. In the 1860's wagons and miners journeyed over the divide to Summit City which is today a ghost town. I have hiked close to this town and have high hopes in 2013 of visiting it whether I decide to hike it on in from the divide will be a key decision depending on how much snow the region receives during the winter months. As in the spring this canyon and its creek are rather drenched with ice cold water. The volcanic rock formations covered in fluorescent greens and orange lichens just add to the canyons natural beauty as patches of woods surround the lower valley floors as you began your ascension over the divide!

Their are other very interesting sites surrounding the divide as well such as Summit City Creek, Devil's Corral and The Lost Lakes. All of these areas we plan on working with between Carson Pass and Big Blue Lake. So expect in the future new additions of such places to appear in these case files in the future. Their is allot to see as like many of our expeditions their is miles of wilderness and places that man has not even explored yet in this mountain range. As a goal we are trying to conduct our expeditions piece by piece but every time we think we explored it all we find something even more impressive. We may not see everything in this lifetime but our viewers will know that it is The Paranormal & Ghost Society that has journeyed miles in this vast wilderness. Although the divide is not 800k acres of El Dorado National Forest it does take up a very viable portion of them. Anything could be using the divide to traverse the many gems found in this region in search of food, water and the means to continue to remain elusive such as America's Great Ape "Sasquatch"!
