Etoniah Cemetery

After hiking in the woods in search of the Bardin Booger we took a break and visited the cemetery before we would finish off the rest of the Bardin investigation. We parked at the old church and started to look around the cemetery.

Behind the cemetery was the woods where the strange occurs. So I felt the cemetery would fit in nicely. I did look up to the sky thought I spotted the comet all the stars were out it was a nice night.

The cemetery is very rural it has an interesting story to go with it and of course that will go along nicely when I update the site on this location. But we entered the gates....and took a left towards an old vault which was vandalized with writing all over the top and inscriptions.

It seemed we would not encounter the more older historical section till later so we just walked the road to the back. The further we went back the stranger it became. There was no bushes...no grass....no flowers...nothing it was a giant sand lot with graves. It reminded me of a few cemeteries I visited out west out in the desert with graves revealing themselves out of the sand.

I smelled incense burning strong or some odd scent. To the very back was a fresh burial when I say fresh I mean same day fresh. They had xmas lights, wreaths, tons of flower arrangements etc the incense smell however did not come from here so I am not sure. I know my incense I light them here at my house this was a scent I had just could not pin point it.

After we walked through the sand I took us back to the historical section where I found a child's grave with a lot of knickknacks some were broken. So many of my members just do not understand what it is to live and what it is to die and some like me develop appreciation for both.

We focused on the older historical section I  seen one stone from the 1800's almost as if it was brand new that's how good of shape it was.  It has some nice carvings in it most of the other older stones were weathered this was not.

We also noticed a lot of rusted fire pits throughout the cemetery. I thought this was odd to see...I mean imagine having your grave next to a fire pit seriously lol. But the area was established around 1848 so that says enough right there. Old cemeteries deteriorate but this one gave the old graves to shade.....grass and the new ones to sand hmmm odd.

Anyway's we did leave the cemetery and went to do more hiking into the Bardin woods in search of the Bardin Booger we did not spend a lot of time at the cemetery since it also ties into the woods nearby we had some hiking to go do.

After exploring Entoniah and the woods surrounding it we left to visit providence cemetery.
