Deveaux College was was established in 1853 and is a historical landmark. Samuel Deveaux  the founder of this place first used the buildings for Orphan and Destitute children. I have read that on the 53 acres there is many unmarked graves or burials on the site and I feel the woods surrounding this college are more haunted then the dorms itself. Which would give an improper burial to those who have perished over 100 years ago. There are 9 buildings in all such as an Art Gallery, Old School House, Boiler Building, and 3 dorms, a garage and 2 other smaller buildings probably for staff. Some of the structures are called the Vogt House, Van Rensselaer School chapel, and the Deveaux Farmhouse.  I have noticed that one of the castle like dorms is no longer their. I believe the reason for this is because of the parking lot that has been placed there. However one of the dorms on the property is a castle like structure and very large which is one of the oldest buildings on the site. After awhile of it being a college it became a regular school and later in the 1978 Niagara University purchased it for storage mainly. Now back in 2000 Pataki purchased the land and made it an official state park. The reason for this is to preserve some of the oldest and rarest trees in the area such as rare mushrooms, white, red and black oaks, and many other types of species. Ten acres of forest were saved and are now preserved. The reason why we chose to investigate this area is because of the rich history being that it is one of the oldest college Buildings in the area and of course most colleges have a ghost story or 2 to tell. What we can tell you is the area is very haunted, secluded, some over growth and peaceful as well. The area was abandoned for at least 15 years from 1985 till 2000 and did suffer light vandalism in that time period.
