The Deltona Veterans Park is currently
in the construction phases since November of 2004 and is almost complete.
The city along with other Veteran Organization dedicated the site to all
the service men and women who served their country in past as well as
present. Their is a monument listing the names who have perished in the
Iraqi war or who are currently serving in the Deltona area.
Their are also many other memorials to all the US wars fought such as the Korean War, Vietnam, WWI & WWII. Many gardens, benches, and little trails line the park. Their is also a site that is a tribute to those who lost their lives in the September 11th WTC attacks. Veterans day at the park is one of the biggest events as a ceremony takes place along with a parade. Their are many special military displays and memorabilia within the park. The park features an AH-1 Cobra Helicopter from Vietnam when at one time it was used by the U.S. Army. That is the most amazing site within the park and you really do not understand its power till you walk up on its guns and realize that this helicopter was way ahead of its time as far as technology goes. The park is a real serene place but their is an odd sense that you are not alone here. The first time we passed the park Lee broke down and I told him maybe sometime will investigate this place. Well of course a couple weeks later that promise came true for us. We had alot of fun hiding behind sandbags, posing near the helicopter and reading the various monuments. I do believe the park has alot of energy as Lee described it as more of a natural type of energy perhaps maybe to the land itself. Their is a lake nearby and it seems in the darker part of the park where the woods ride along the shores is a very active location. But with an open mind the possibility of some veterans who perished in various wars are not so unbelievable afterall. If you perished in battle and a monument was erected in your name would it only be true that in the afterlife you would cherish it like you would any other gift? So the park has a strange feeling and perhaps not only do soldiers haunt it but even the Timucuan Indians which thrived off this land in prehistoric times. © By Rick-AngelOfThyNight
