Bulowville Plantation
Before we visited here I believe Steve and Amanda showed me the old Dixie Highway. There is some history to even that but we did not investigate it rather just drove past to look at the gravel road which went off into the woods. But anyways we wanted to get as close as we could to the plantation so we drove up to the front gates and had to hike in quite a ways not as far though as the Wahlin Trail. Down the road there was many
raccoons just running all over confused.
We got out and walked in a well lit area in the middle of the woods past a house with a dog barking. It is amazing how much animals can hear despite how quiet we were walking. We ended up taking the road for sometime till it veered off and became quite narrow. Imagine your in the middle of the woods walking down a narrow twisting road and the brush is so thick you cannot see anything. There were
a lot of puddles on the ground as well so you could tell it just rained here recently.
We walked a ways down the road heard a giant screech it sounded like an owl just captured himself a meal but still it took me by surprise. eventually after enough walking we came to a clearly with some odd building and then the plantation ruins you could make out way off in the distance especially them tall double Coquina Chimneys.
We walked up to the ruins and I was totally breath taken. They had it set up where you could take paths that weaved right into the ruins itself and each area explained a history. Before we got into walking around this coquina castle like structure I looked out into the woods where there was a well. Now off in the distance was a trail or path and I was shining my light because I heard some noise in the distance. Now somehow I seen 2 lights and they were
moving in various circles. I told Steve maybe its my light reflecting back and that theory is fine except I cannot explain the 2 solid black figures standing there in the
woods moving towards us. I know what I seen and its possible that my light illuminated something in the visible area. But I did see two figures perhaps shadow creatures or ghost its hard to say.
The more I think about it the more it makes sense. The area is known for
its strange ghosts lights in the woods were these what I seen? These two
balls of light were moving all around dancing no more then 150 feet away
from us.
We then walked through the ruins of the sawmill, a few wells, a sugar mill, Curing Room, Hog Sheds, Boiler & Machinery and other sets of ruins. Not much was left just a few walls, tunnels
chimneys standing. But at one time yes this was a booming place so as I walked in the ruins part itself I tried to envision what this plantation was like when it was fully operational. I also could not help noticing how ice cold some areas were here. There were ghost here and more then one.
We walked around and eventually headed back down the road for about a quarter of a mile things seemed at this point quite calm
until we were getting close to getting back on one of the main roads to the vehicle when I had everybody stop and be quiet. Something out in those woods was following us. My hearing is still very poor from being sick and flying but this stood out. It sounded like the
shuffling of feet walking along the road except staying in the woods. When I stopped it stopped then I knew that whatever it was that it probably was very paranormal in origin. Most animals you shine a spotlight on look at it then run but you see these footsteps were so close and coming towards us that I knew something was not right. We were followed to best of my knowledge. About 2 minutes later it got very cold I had
Goosebumps on my arms, back of my neck etc we definitely were not alone.
Eventually we made it back to our car and it seemed so far during the evening this place seemed to have the most activity and I had a good feeling it would as again there are
a lot of stories about the area itself. Then we ventured on off to try and find the Rosetta Plantation which to our luck we could not find except swamplands so we went to the Ormond Indian Burial Mound.
