Bardin
Home Of The Bardin Booger
Finally a dream come true home of the Bardin Booger....or Boogeyman as
some call it. Of course this area has been growing over the years its not
as rural as it use to be but its a place with old rural cemeteries....and
lore. It also sits near a very large national forest called Etoniah which
is overgrown and full of many trails and creeks.
I had the location that we would hike around at which is an area of forest
that is rather secluded or in the heart of the town rather. Its an area
where sightings have also taken place. I am sure that if this creature
roams this area he has moved out of it due to it developing.
As we parked the car I led Donna to the tree line and I had to climb
on over a giant log which was put there obvious to prevent vehicles from
going back here. The trail at first was overgrown high grass...trees were
hanging low over it and it split off in all these different ways.
I was glad to have Donna with me because honestly this place is just down
right spooky those woods have an invisible sign that says please enter at
your own risk lol. The woods are old untouched by man their was a lot of
fungus growing on the ground and the trails at times became very narrow.
I did not sense anything at first I did feel very watched not by anything
cryptid perhaps ghostly like something was like oh no more people are
looking for this creature type of feeling. It did not take long to notice
that despite the weather cooling down that did not stop some of the very
large spiders we encountered on the trail.
As we pulled deeper into the woods the general store lights became dim to
a point where we no longer seen them anymore. In the woods between the
thick I could see a house way off to our left. I could hear even further
away people talking. So it was obvious that this patch of woods was being
developed slowly by the Bardin community.
At this point we were getting further away and I had a lot of options when
hiking here. I could have went left or right etc or even off the path down
some animal trails. I tried to do as much as I could did not find any
weird tracks etc
Along our journey I noticed a sand dune that was formed into a ramp of
sorts for four wheelers. You could easily tell that the locals go four
wheeling back here so it would be no wonder as to why they do not have
sightings of this thing. Of course if he is gone I still hope my website
can keep the legend alive and people can understand what happens when we
start to develop land....it chases animals...forest creatures etc further
away.
As we hiked to our left was a house and so I took a trail to our right to
get further away and that is when I heard a voice. It was not from a house
I heard it just a few feet away. It sounded like the word what or
something but that voice made me wonder who is out there in the woods with
me. At first I thought oh maybe someone is camping further up the trail
but we went further up and it bended to the right and that's where we seen
a few dark houses.
Then it only took some rustling on the trail and that was it the dogs were
barking nonstop and howling. But it was obvious that now we were hiking
along a residential area and street So quickly I had us take another trail
to our right and hence we were back in the woods which looped around.
It was obvious that this set of woods had houses bordering it but from
what I read there is a trail that can take you into other woods and
perhaps the national forest. But more then likely you would have to go
past some of the houses in the area which have big barking dogs lol. At
this point I was not worried I figured that a creature that is 7 feet tall
would have to make noise and well....most of the locals have dogs so if
the dogs are around chances are nothing else will be.
Anyhow the dogs barked for at least 15 minutes about 3 different ones in
various locations. It appeared we came across and area that had a lot
of corn kernels across the dirt trail both sides led to a deer trail
that was over grown. We started to hike down the trail which led to a
wide open area perhaps someone's back yard not sure though we turned and
went back onto the trail and took a little bit different of a way back
I went a few times off into the woods to have a look around this
area has quite a network of trails some are overgrown. Some look like they
were created by animals but all of them lead I notice to various
houses its like a network of paths makes you wonder if what is here is
never found because of this Basically Bardin sits in the woods so anything
could be back here these woods seem a little more complex then other
places I been to in FL their are no markers......its very secluded no
trail heads....etc
Also we found an area with fabric spread out between two trees and a
crate. It appears that this area is used for hunting as well. I did not
find any camp out locations just areas that were cleared out for hunters.
I seen deer tracks did not see or hear any animals.
Eventually we came out of the woods after I took Donna on all kinds of
unmarked paths it was a relief to get back into the clearing. Towards the
end of our hike I heard a branch break in the woods it was pretty
loud I also heard what sounded like something moving around on a
cautious manner. I spend a lot of time in the woods so I tend to observe
the less obvious.
But it seemed something may have been following us towards the end of
the hike and it was really careful cause a branch broke then it stopped
like it was trying to stay as quiet as possible. I did feel something back
here and when we left the woods Donna fell into an area full of sharp sand
spurs. I know all about that it happens to everybody from time to time.
I went to the store nearby they have an article in the window about the
creature that was being sighted here. Also inside a Bulletin Board about
it as well. Unfortunately we could not get inside to view the information
as it was closed. But I did look at the article they had up in the
window.
I also took a photo of a logging truck, old boat and tires towards near
the trail entering the woods. After this stop I had another place we would
hike and visit. A much more eerie place then even here. We would stop at
Entoniah Cemetery first but that is the next report so let me continue
below as we continued our search in Bardin for the strange.
Okay we just left Entoniah Cemetery and started hiking down the dark road. We
had some thick woods on both sides of us and what I wanted to do is hike
to the creek. They have an old creepy bridge and according to my research
this area would be a place to search around and from experience up in PA
bridges/water are great places to trample around at when looking
for such things.
We walked down a hill right to the creek the water was not moving and
it appeared very clear because it was shallow. Sometimes some of the
creeks in FL are muddy and full of alligators but this was not the
case here. The creek went off to my left and right.
Under the bridge was a lot of garbage mainly beer cans....and some spray
paint. It looks like a local party place. I went under the bridge and
behold found a hiking trail. The trail took us to a pond which was
shallow....and to our left was the creek. Strange enough the banks
were very high and steep I never seen a creek like this in FL of course if
the water was deeper you would not notice that.
In the center of the creek we seen a tire swing and a rope man that looks
like fun if it was not cooler out I probably would have gotten on it and
swung around lol serious!
We followed the trail for quite a ways there would be no houses at
all so if we encountered something back here it would be us and it. I
could not believe all the garbage back here people had dumped it was
scattered...wrappers....garbage bags...beer bottles etc people just have
no respect for the outdoors.
We came across this structure it was rectangular....had wood
pilings...and a pipe that ran out over the water. Donna and I heard
knocking I stood still she actually went ahead of me. I was trying to
figure out what is it....should I arm myself etc cause the knocks
sounded like a person just banging on a wall.
I followed Donna and there was nothing on the other end of this structure
then we noticed that it was coming from the structure itself maybe water
dripping inside its hard to say.But the knocks were loud and since no
water was coming out of the pipe I have been trying to figure out the fact
that if water was dripping inside this structure then whey was
it not coming out the drainage pipe. So who knows just weird to see
something in the middle of the woods like this which serves no purpose
whatsoever. Not only that but the spray paint on this was mad.
After we debunked the loud knocking in the woods we followed the path and
well it sort of dead ended. When I say sort of I mean we could have went
further but it was VERY overgrown. It is the type of hike you would
want to do during the day but further upstream does lead to some pretty
heavy wooded areas and other creeks.
After our adventure we started to head back I heard a few noises but
it was for the most part more peaceful here then in the other area we
hiked with dogs barking. This looks like a big party spot if I was not
moving the tire swing would be in my plans lol. We took a path to the left
which led to the right which was the road and cemetery...then to the left
to some the woods. We went back to the cemetery and to the vehicle where I
climbed a steep bank.
We did not see no Bardin Booger but it was an interesting jaunt in the
woods I at least wanted to explore the area a little find out a little
more about the area and experience it. The paths and trails are very
unique a lot of twist...turns...paths crossing paths etc I think if we may
have went a few miles along the creek we may have found some more
oddities. The deeper you go the more you find that's how it works when you
work with cryptids you find them in remote areas usually.
After finishing off some of the hiking trails in Bardin we went to
Providence Cemetery but before I post that report let me tell you all
about Entoniah Cemetery which sits in the heart of the forest that is
stalked by this creature.
