Ashley's Restaurant is one of the most haunted in the country. Many stories have been passed down over the years some might be urban legends but many do have truth to them.

The restaurant was built in the early 1920s and has been a tavern for over 80 years now. When you approach the place it almost looks like a lodge that you would see up in the mountains. It is a cozy little place with some deep dark secrets. When I first moved to Florida quite a few people told me to check this place out if I ever had the chance. So since I was in the little town of Rockledge I figured I would stop here to share this place with the world. However this investigation was not about finding evidence cause history tells us its already haunted.

Its rumored to have many different ghost that haunt this little restaurant one of the ghost here is said to be a more demeaning entity that will play with guest and employees. Others will see a ghostly woman by the name of Ethel Allen who comes out of the bathroom stalls and is seen in the mirrors. Some say she was killed by a train or murdered at the restaurant many years ago.  Then there is the story of a ghostly boy where guest have felt being choked in the hallway. Some speculate that he was killed nearby the restaurant perhaps on the tracks or by the road.  Workers claim that dishes, pots, pans etc are thrown around. The bar TVs turn on and off on there own. Furniture even is said to move by itself.

The restaurant was not always called Ashley's before 1985 it was owned by various owners and names. Before it was a restaurant I think is what many ghosthunters question is what was this before it was a tavern. I was told that in the early 1900s it was a train station. Since the tracks sit very close to the Ashley's it was a good possibility that a train station once resided in its place.

They say the wooden railroad station burned down killing people inside. All that was left was a foundation which the tavern used to build the restaurant on top of. They chose a similar general layout like the train station. This place does look like a little depot. Others say this was an Indian burial ground which is possible since most shell middens were destroyed when the state starting building roads and businesses were built. If it is was in the way it was leveled.

Since the train comes behind this restaurant it is a possible fact that deaths on the tracks have happened over the years. What usually tends to happen is someone drinks a little to much and passes out on the tracks. Many say a man or boy was killed near the restaurant most likely these tracks. So his spirit likes to hang around the restaurant.

The most famous haunting is the Ethel Allen ghost which is said to be seen in the restroom. Ethel Allen was murdered, mutilated and dumped in the nearby Indian river. Others have said she was murdered here which is possible maybe she met her killer at this restaurant. Maybe she was a regular its hard to say. They do say that she was murdered elsewhere but then what her connection to this tavern is? Did she meet someone go for a few drinks at the bar and those were her last?

There have been several TV shows about this restaurant. One of those pilots was on Haunted America which never was aired. But the crew experienced problems with there equipment, batteries being drained, and seen some activity with there own eyes. So definitely something is going on here. Another show Ghosthunters Of The Space coast also was shot here and the conclusion is that this place has a vortex inside.
